Expert Q&A

What are some ways to celebrate Father's Day even before Baby arrives?

1. Schedule a Father's Day dinner party or barbeque at your home with another couple(s) you met at the Lamaze class who is having a baby. Have each couple bring something that connects them to their baby, like the picture they received from their OB/GYN of the baby in mom's womb.

2. Have a relative or friend schedule a baby shower on Father's Day weekend. Give him/her a list of items you will need. A good thing to suggest is to have several people chip in on a big-ticket item like a changing table or crib. This way you won't have to use your money to buy one.

3. Spend a couple of hours on Father's Day at the hospital where you will deliver the baby. Take this time to meet some of the nurses in the maternity ward, who will eventually be taking care of you during labor and delivery. Have them show you around. After your visit spend some romantic time together. Take a walk in the park or on the beach.

4. Visit a park. Go to the playground and interact with some of the parents and their kids. Once you have established some rapport with the parents, feel free to play and be goofy with their kids as if they were one of your own.
