When a child has diarrhea, are there any foods you should not give them?
It may depend on why your child has diarrhea, but the American Academy of Pediatrics says that in general, your child will get better faster when he returns to normal eating as soon as possible. Furthermore, the organization says it's not necessary to restrict children to the BRATT diet, which includes bananas, rice, applesauce, tea and toast. When my children have diarrhea, I let them eat as usual, letting it run its course, which is normally from three to seven days duration.
