I found out that my triglyceride level is almost 600. What exactly are triglycerides, and how can I lower my level?
Triglycerides are a fatty substance in the body, which act as a major form of energy. Triglycerides increase when we eat food or drink alcohol, especially foods that are high in carbohydrates. The best way to reduce triglycerides (and they should be roughly half of total cholesterol) is to eat a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats each time we eat, even snacks. Eating this way will not only bring blood fats into the normal range but also help balance hormones and, of course, energy level. Please read The Zone: A Dietary Road Map to Lose Weight Permanently by Barry Sears for an excellent overview of eating this way."
