Writing Your Wife a Love Letter After Delivery

Karen Arnold, a certified childbirth educator living in Sherman Oaks, Calif., says the most important thing is to just be there. "If a mom feels her partner is there for her in the labor process and continues to support her as she transitions from pregnant woman to nursing mother, she will feel like she can depend on him for anything," says Arnold, who is trained in the Bradley method of childbirth. She encourages dads and moms to have uninterrupted time alone with the baby before meeting the rest of the world.

Parents can bond when the infant settles down for his or her first nap. Kelly Faysash says her husband bonded with their children right from the beginning.

But remember, one of the secrets to their happy marriage has been keeping the romance alive. "It's important for kids to know their parents love one another," Kelly Faysash says. "You have to be husband and wife first and parent second. If you don't have the support of each other, it's hard to be a good parent."
