Flex Your Time, Not Just Your Muscles
New Options Help Dads Be More Involved
By Teri Brown
"I also think it is important to realize that many dads have jobs where they can create their own flextime without formally approaching the boss," says McWhorter Sember. "If you have a job that requires you to be out of the office, on the road or allows you to work partly from home, it is likely you can mold your hours a bit to your own needs. Some offices are also rather informal and will let you work till 6:30 each night one week so you can take a day off the next week without it being a big deal. A lot of it has to do with the corporate culture of your office."
However you do it make sure to keep your production high so you aren't making it difficult for the next employee to get flextime. And above all, enjoy the newfound freedom flextime gives you to be available for your family!
