Flex Your Time, Not Just Your Muscles
New Options Help Dads Be More Involved
By Teri Brown
There has been a quiet revolution in this country concerning the role men play in parenting their children. No longer satisfied with an hour or so in the evenings, dads are becoming active, hands-on partners in childrearing, to the delight of both children and mothers everywhere!
"When I got to the point of wanting to quit school to keep my sanity, I approached my manager at HSBC," says Zwolinski. "We quickly worked together and set up a schedule that allowed me to work from home every Monday. Thanks to effective communication with my manager and the flexibility that HSBC offers its employees, I have continued to work from home once a week and plan to do so going forward."
Zwolinski believes this option has improved both his family life and his work efficiency. "On days when I work from home, I have the opportunity to sit down and eat with my family during breakfast and lunch," he says. "Just being able to see my family makes it so much easier to get through the day."
Zwolinski believes he is more productive and efficient because his long commute has been eliminated once a week, which leaves him with a fresh mind, positive attitude and a more clearly focused approach.
