Keep Your Cool
7 Savvy Ways to Ease the Life of Your Stay-at-Home Wife
By Jill Eggleton Brett
2. Let Mom sleep in on Saturday morning while Dad gets up with the kids.
Remember the good old days of sleeping in? Some parents wish that their children were born with the "sleep-in-on-the-weekends" gene. The ability of being able to distinguish between a Tuesday and a Saturday still escapes most young children. Fortunately, Dad can easily be a hero by letting Mom sleep in. 3. Take the kids outside to play or to the park for an hour.
Silence certainly is golden. Throughout the day, Mom hears crying, whining, screaming, fighting and endless requests from her bambinos. Give her ears a rest by taking the kids outside for some playtime. Kendra Lutz, mother of triplets and a singleton in Miamisburg, Ohio, explains, "Some days, if my husband doesn't immediately take over when he walks in the door I'd have a nervous breakdown. I just need a half-hour to myself to regain my sanity." 4. Do housework without being asked (nagged).
A clean kitchen brings joy to a stay-at-home mom's heart. But, of course, it will be messy again in a few hours after the next meal. Mom spends lots of time in the kitchen. She doesn't just cook in there; she has to clean it, too. Something as simple as dad cleaning the kitchen, or another area of the house, gives Mm a much-needed break.Want to see more?
