Those big eyes will go through a change too. Eye color is determined by the amount of pigment in the iris. The pigments increase as Baby grows, which develops the permanent eye color. Many will develop their eye color in the first few months, while it may take longer for other babies.

Expert Advice
"Until about 6 months of age, babies breathe almost exclusively through the nose," say Dr. Fay. "If the baby develops some nasal congestion, medications are not usually helpful and can cause side effects like poor sleeping and irritability. Saline drops and gentle suction with a bulb syringe can help ease the congestion and allow the baby to breathe a bit more easily."

Dad says...
"Relax. Follow your instincts," says Franco. "This isn't rocket science. You will get a feel for it. I remember my mother would yell at me to 'Watch that baby's head' every time I picked up my son around her. She was even more nervous about it than I was. All it takes is one flop forward or one snap back for you to realize that you're doing something wrong."

And what about milia? "OK. So you're baby's not always the cutest thing in the world," he says. "It will go away. Think of it this way: It's good practice for when they are teenagers."

10 Little Fingers...
One of the reflexes Baby is born with is called a grasp reflex. She will grab her hand around anything that brushes against the palm of her hand. A baby can also be born with jagged nails, which should be carefully trimmed to help her avoid her scratching her face. If you're not ready to cut her nails, socks or babymittens can be placed on her hands. Baby's nails grow rather quickly and will require trimming once or twice a week.
